Pastor Dwight Reed, born in Okmulgee, OK and raised in Des Moines, IA, is the Senior Pastor of Christ Apostolic Temple, Inc., Iowa’s largest predominantly African American church. A graduate of Des Moines Technical High School and JCAA (Master of Theology), he has served in ministry for over four decades. Under his leadership, CATCOS launched transformative outreach programs including food drives, Toys for Tots, financial literacy classes, youth coding workshops, and Road to Recovery addiction support.

Dwight Reed

Presiding Bishop Dwight A. Reed, born August 15, 1958, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, is the son of the late Presiding Bishop Jeremiah Reed, founders of Christ Apostolic Temple, Inc. Baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost in 1972, he began preaching at 18. A graduate of East High School, he earned degrees in Theology from JCAC Academy. For nearly two decades, he served in multiple church roles, including teaching, counseling, fundraising, and outreach leadership. Bishop Reed pastored in Des Moines and Shreveport, where he led the building of a 6,000-square-foot church. Today, as Presiding Bishop, he carries forward his father’s vision, focusing on the recovery, repair, and restoration of souls with faith, service, and compassion.

​Presiding Bishop Dwight A. Reed is a lifelong servant leader dedicated to faith, education, and community service, carrying forward a legacy of hope, restoration, and spiritual growth.
